International Anti-Corruption Day

The International Anti-Corruption Day, established by the UN General Assembly, is celebrated annually on December 9.

On this day, the UN member states inform the public about national anti-corruption measures.

Corruption as a socio-legal phenomenon is expressed, on the one hand, in the use by a person performing certain state functions of his official status in order to obtain illegal advantages, and on the other hand, in providing this person with such advantages by an interested entity.

One of the reasons contributing to the manifestation of corruption is the conscious civil indifference to the problems of corruption, as well as the legal illiteracy of citizens when interacting with authorities in everyday life.

An analysis of the number of appeals received by the prosecutor's office, as well as the arguments given in them, indicates low activity and inadequate legal awareness of citizens in this area. Most of the appeals do not contain signs of corruption in the activities of a particular body or official, but are reduced to violations of the rights and legitimate interests of citizens.
